WRAS Certified Drinking Water O-Ring, Seals and Gaskets

WRAS Certified in Accordance with BS 6920. Both in the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, the use of materials and components in devices and equipment that comes into contact with drinking water has to undergo approval by WRAS (Water Regulations Advisory Scheme). WRAS requirements involve the testing for material safety and mechanical testing.

BS 6920 is the standard used for testing non-metallic material which comes into contact with potable water. It is made up of five separate tests to determine that the material do not impart negative odor or give rise to the growth of aquatic microorganisms.

The five individual tests include test for negative odour and flavour, microbial growth, cytotoxicity (destruction of living cells), water appearance, and material leach that may contaminate the water and cause harmful health effects. Mechanical testing is to determine the physical properties of the product. WRAS certification will be issued upon the successful completion of the testing requirements of BS 6920.
